On the first position lever activate only electric switch for feed motor. There is no clutch, everything is engage through gearbox. There is only safety clutch, but we can forget it for now.
On the second position, electric switch do the same thing as on first position, but now lever mechanically disconnect gearbox and engage clutch for fast speed feed.

On the side of the machine (depends on model year and revision) there are:
- main switch
- spindle reversing switch
- coolant switch
- indicator lights - under power, error light
